One of my main goals as a pre/student teacher is to build positive relationships with all of my students. I want them to be able to trust me with anything, and I want them to know that I want what is best for them.
I found an article entitled “Relationships Matter” by Deborah Stipek, and she talks about how relationship building between the student and teacher can lead to better student engagement and achievement.
Some students might not have the strongest parental figures at home, have home-related issues going on, or are just having trouble in general. This can become a problem in the classroom because these students might feel lonely, are seeking attention because they aren’t getting attention at home, etc. As a teacher, it is my responsibility to make sure all of my students feel welcomed and loved in my classroom.
This is truly so important to me and will be one of my main goals for the longest time as I continue in my teaching career. I have already built several relationships with my early learning center students. Even though I am hard on them sometimes, I care for them so much and want them to be successful in everything that they do.
